    How it works

A clear workflow from "I don't know where to start" to a vault that can be accessed and used when it matters.

    Step 01
    Answer a short intro quiz

Legacy Vault generates a readiness checklist and pre-creates the tiles you actually need.

    Step 02
Fill tiles at your own pace

Add people, institutions, bills, documents, and instructions with gentle prompts and reminders.

    Step 03
    Export an Executor Packet

Create encrypted exports and a guided, read-only view so your executor can act quickly.

    Security & privacy, by design

Legacy Vault is built around an offline-first principle: if it doesn't need the internet, it shouldn't use it.

    • • No accounts required
    • • No analytics or telemetry
    • • No syncing your data to servers
    Local encryption by default

Your vault and exports are encrypted. The goal is safety even if a file is copied.

    Recovery Key + optional shares

A parallel recovery system reduces the risk of losing access or relying on one person.

    Confirm-first import assistance

When extracting from documents, suggestions are always reviewed before saving.

    Two modes: Owner and Executor

Keep day-to-day editing separate from the guided, read‑only experience an executor needs.

    Owner Mode

Build the vault, set reminders, and keep information current—securely and privately.

    Executor Mode

A guided, mostly read‑only view with export and print tools for real‑world tasks.

    FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask first.

Your passphrase is the only way to decrypt your vault—we cannot recover it for you. That's why we encourage you to create a Recovery Key and store it securely (perhaps with your executor materials). This is the tradeoff for true privacy: only you hold the keys.

Start with the intro quiz, then fill tiles at your pace. Export an Executor Packet when you're ready.
